Short Course Detail

Race Section	Control Point	Instructions	Route Description:
Mountain Biking (8 miles)	START	Start and Proceed to CP's on Foot	From the start (Lake Sylvia Day Use Area, Racer will mountain bike from CP1 - CP5 - See the attached map for the route.
	CP-1	Trek to next CP's	From Lake Sylvia Day Use area, turn left out of parking lot and travel ~ 2 miles to the FR-132 intersection to find CP-1.
	CP-2	Trek to next CP's	From CP-1, Turn left on FR-132 and travel ~1 mile to the intersection of FR132 and FR179 to find CP-2.
	CP-3	Trek to next CP's	From CP-2, Travel south on FR179 for ~0.5 miles to the trailhead on your right to find CP-3.  The trail will be marked with orange flagging.
	CP-4	Trek to next CP's	From CP-3, Racers will follow a marked trail for ~1.8 miles to CP-4.
	Base Transition Area/ CP-5	Trek to next CP's	From CP-4, Racers will continue to follow the marked trail for ~0.25 miles until back at the intersection of FR132.  Racers will follow the road west back to the Lake Sylvia Day Use Area to CP-5.
	Base Transition Area	Trek to next CP's	At the transition area, follow the instructions of the Race Staff.
Trekking                (4 miles)	CP-6	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	From the start (Lake Sylvia Day Use Area, Racers will trek to CP-6.  CP-6 is located on the SouthEast side of a jeep road.
	CP-7	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-7.  CP-7 is located on the side of a jeep road.
	CP-8	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-8.  CP-8 is located on the top of a hill. The bearing from CP7 to CP8 is 135º.
	CP-9	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-9.  CP-9 is located in a ravine. The bearing from CP8 to CP9 is 96º.
	CP-10	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-10.  CP-10 is located on a slight hump. The bearing from CP9 to CP10 is 44º.
	CP-11	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-11.  CP-11 is located on the top of a hill. Racers will cross a dirt road on the way to CP-11.  The bearing from CP10 to CP11 is 29º.
	CP-12	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	Racers will trek to CP-12.  CP-12 is located at the base of the long course ropes section.  The bearing from CP11 to CP12 is 309º. (Short Course Racers may participate on the ropes section after the race as long as long course teams are not waiting.)
	Base / CP-13	Collect the Canoe section CPs in any order.	From CP-12, Racers will return to the Base/Transition Area at the Lake Sylvia Day Use Area for CP-13 and then follow the instructions of the Race Staff
Canoeing                (1 mile)	CP-14	End of Canoe and bike to CP-17	From the Lake Sylvia Day Use Area, Racers will canoe to CP-14 through CP-16 on Lake Sylvia IN ANY ORDER.
	CP-15	Continue Biking to the Next CP	Racers will canoe to the next CP.  Canoe CP's can be obtained in ANY ORDER.
	CP-16	Continue Biking to the Next CP	Racers will canoe to the next CP.  Canoe CP's can be obtained in ANY ORDER.
	FINISH (Base)		Racers will canoe back to the Lake Sylvia Boat Ramp to finish the canoe.
