Short Course - Race Course
The Raid the Rock Short Course will be a great introduction to the sport of Adventure Racing.
It is designed to take 2-4 hours.
Below is an overview of the disciplines you can expect on the short course:
Biking
- The biking for the short course will be on paved trails with a limited amount on beginner single track trails.
Hybrid bikes can be used for the short course.
Trekking
- The trekking section will be on paved trails, single track trails and limited bushwhacking.
Paddling
- The paddling section will be on flat water. Teams will use canoes and solo racers will have sit-on-top kayaks. Boats, paddles,
and PFD's will be provided by race management.
Navigation - MINIMAL!
- Navigation on the short course will be very minimal. Any navigation required will be on street maps.
Mystery Event
- Can't say much about this one - then it wouldn't be a mystery!!
Teams
Short course teams will have an Open and Solo race division.
The Open division will be 2-person and 3 person teams - co-ed, male, female.
There are no age limits for team members.
The 2-4 course can be run without a support crew.
Other Race Information
Registration for both races will be from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on September 18th
at a location to be announced the week of the race.
All team members must be present at the check in. Teams will get the appropriate amount
of race course details at the pre-race meeting. The exact location
and time will be announced in the Team Captains Letter emailed out
approximately 1-week before the event.
The exact race start time will be posted on the website as well as emailed to the Team Captain
during the month of August, at least 1-week before the event.
The pre-race meeting starts at 7:00 pm on September 18th.
The after party and awards ceremony will be held at a location and
time to be announced the week of the race. The post race activities
will start around 6:00pm - 7:00 pm on September 19th. Additional
meal tickets can be purchased for $10 each during registration.
Registration fees include:
- Raid the Rock shirt for each racer
- Finishing awards for every finishing team
- Awards and prizes for the top 3 finishing teams in each division
- Post Race Dinner for each team member and two Support Crew members
- Use of the provided canoe and paddles
- Maps
- Land use fee
- Entry into one great race
